If, Then

If ignorant, make me wise

If hurried, give me pause

If blind, open my eyes

If selfish, state your cause

If the day calls for silence, mute me

If it is time for bold words, help me speak

If my heart trembles, bring stillness

If my faith weakens, lead me to belief

Gift of Sight

Is this a distraction or Your plan of action

A promise fulfilled or my tainted will

A gift so wise or a clever disguise

Oh, wash these corroded scales

from my eyes

So I would see, I would decipher

How to choose wisely for my ever after

“And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;” Acts 9:18

Discernment

My name is discernment

Trust what I reveal and know

I show you the hidden things

You’d otherwise never be told

I show you opportunities for blessing

And how to count sorrow as joy

I whisper God’s wisdom

Amid this world’s noise

I sense when something new is brewing

When it is time to block an attack

I sense calmness and times to be still

When to move on and when to hold back

I’m a gift, don’t ignore me

Shut me out or throw me away

Embrace me and listen

Trust what I say
